Know where you must register, before it's urgent
For each legal entity and tax regime, Ownrecord knows whether you're registered, in a grace period, below a threshold or blocked. It counts your sales against every threshold, warns you as deadlines approach, and checkout sells only where it's allowed.
Every regime has a state
| State | What it means | Consumer sales |
|---|---|---|
| Registered | You have a registration number and an effective date. | Sell and charge tax. |
| Grace period | A threshold was crossed and the deadline to register is running. | Sell and charge tax. |
| Monitored | Below the threshold and not registered. | Sell under the below-threshold rule. |
| Pre-registration | Close to the threshold (80% by default). | As monitored, with time to prepare. |
| Blocked for consumers | You must register first, or a deadline was missed. | No new sales; customers can join a waitlist. |
Registrations belong to the legal entity, so the sales of all its brands count toward the same thresholds. Test mode has its own copy of every registration, so you can practise the whole workflow without touching live counters.
What Ownrecord does for you
Threshold counters
Every live sale counts toward the thresholds it affects, in the measure and window each regime uses, converted at the official exchange rates.
Deadlines and alerts
When a sale crosses a threshold, the grace deadline is worked out in the jurisdiction's time zone. Alerts escalate as it approaches: at the start, halfway, at 80% and daily in the last three days.
Automatic safety stop
If you haven't registered or recorded your application a safety margin before the deadline (72 hours by default), new consumer sales there stop and you're told why.
Waitlists and demand
Where you can't sell yet, customers can join a waitlist with double opt-in. The demand page shows what you're missing per country, and customers are told once when you can sell to them.
Registration packets
For each regime, Ownrecord prepares what the authority asks for, filled in from your entity's data, with a playbook of the steps and the prerequisites to do first.
Compliance tasks
Registrations and returns become tasks with inputs, a deadline and an assignee: a person on your team, your adviser or an agent you authorize. Evidence of the submission is recorded with the task.
US sales tax
US states don't let you collect sales tax before you hold a permit. When you cross a state's threshold, Ownrecord keeps selling there without collecting tax until you register, and tells you. A brand can choose to stop selling in that state instead.
Your registrations stay yours
What you take on
Ownrecord prepares registrations and returns and records the evidence, but it never signs in to government portals or submits for you. You, your adviser or an agent you authorize does that, and the registration is in your entity's name.
