Built for people and agents alike
Everything you can do in the console is one operation, available the same way through the REST API and as a tool on the MCP server. Agents act under scoped credentials, approval policies and limits, and every action is in the audit log.
One registry, every surface
Each capability is defined once, with its input, output, permission, risk tier, examples and documented errors. The REST API, the OpenAPI document, the MCP tools, the console's actions, the assistant's tools and the reference docs are all generated from that one definition, so nothing exists in the console that an agent can't do, and nothing an agent does skips the checks a person goes through.
Safe by design
OAuth for agents and apps
Run your own agents with client credentials, install partner apps with the authorization code flow, or connect an MCP client that acts for you. A token never gets more access than the person who granted it.
Approvals
Set approval policies per risk tier and amount. A refund above your limit or a tax filing waits for a person to approve it in the console, then runs exactly as requested.
Dry runs
Every change with a financial, tax or security impact can be previewed first: the ledger entries, the invoice and the events it would produce, with nothing committed.
Limits and test mode
Each agent has rate and amount limits and works in test mode until an owner or admin turns on live mode for it.
Compliance tasks
Registrations and returns become tasks an agent can claim, work through with their inputs and complete with evidence, or hand back to a person.
Events and webhooks
Signed webhooks and a pull feed of events, so your systems and agents react to what happens without polling every object.
The assistant
The assistant sits in the corner of every console page. Ask how a rule works, why a sale was blocked or what to do before a deadline: it answers from the docs and the knowledge base, with its sources. It can also make changes for you, but only through the same operations, after showing you a confirmation card with the effect, and never beyond your own permissions.
Connect an MCP client
The MCP server at ownrecord.io/mcp exposes the operations as tools, with read-only and destructive hints, plus workflow tools for common jobs and the docs as resources. MCP clients register themselves, you sign in and choose the organization, and the client then acts for you. Read the MCP quickstart.
