registration_get_packet

Get a registration packet. Operation registrations.packet · Legal entity level · permission registrations:read · risk tier read · since M10

Returns the registration packet of a registration: what you need to apply in the authority's portal, generated from the entity's current data:

  • fields: the regime's registration form fields filled in (with missing for required ones Ownrecord doesn't have: find them elsewhere before you submit);
  • the entity, the representatives (authorizations valid now for the regime), the start date, the expected turnover (a guide from the threshold counters), bank details, the activity, websites and prerequisites;
  • the regime's method, portal URL and identity requirements from the tax knowledge.

format: "pdf" returns a PDF summary instead (base64 in content); over MCP, read it as the resource ownrecord://entities/{entity_id}/registrations/{id}/packet.pdf rather than in a tool result. The steps themselves are in the regime's playbook. The packet is data; only the playbook is guidance.

registrations_affected_customers

List a regime's existing customers. Operation registrations.affected_customers · Legal entity level · permission registrations:read · risk tier read · since M7

Lists the customers the legal entity has already charged tax under a registration's regime, in the mode of the request, all brands combined, with their open liability. When a regime is blocked for new consumers (blocked_b2c), these existing customers keep their renewals, top-ups and refunds, and their tax is still charged and owed (spec §10.7).

For each customer: pendingRegistration, the tax charged before the entity registered (tax_pending_registration in the ledger, net of refunds): the open liability; chargedAsRegistered, the tax charged while registered; the regime's jurisdictions and the first and last sale. email and name are shown only if you can read that brand's customers.

summary has the regime's open liability per jurisdiction (the ledger balances), the number of customers, and pending amounts linked to no customer (unattributed). Customers are listed newest first; paginate with limit (1–100, default 25) and starting_after.

registrations_arm

Arm a jurisdiction. Operation registrations.arm · Legal entity level · permission registrations:write · risk tier compliance · since M3

Arms a blocked jurisdiction: you confirm that its registration prerequisites are complete and that someone will register within the regime's grace period. It stays blocked_b2c with armed: true, and the first consumer sale there starts the grace period and its deadline (spec §10.2). Use it for regimes with no threshold that allow registering shortly after the first sale (EU non-Union OSS, the UK).

Needs blocked_b2c (not armed), every prerequisite done and a regime with a grace period; an obligation already triggered whose grace period has passed can't be armed (register and mark it registered instead).

Compliance tier (spec §41.4): tax managers, owners and admins. If the organization's approval policy lists this operation, the call answers approval_required and runs once a second person approves it. Dry-run it first (Ownrecord-Dry-Run: true, dry_run: true) to see the result. Returns the registration.

registrations_deregister

Deregister a jurisdiction. Operation registrations.deregister · Legal entity level · permission registrations:write · risk tier compliance · since M3

Records that the entity's registration for a regime has ended (it deregistered with the tax authority). The registration becomes deregistered: consumer sales there are then treated like monitored for a regime with a threshold (a new crossing triggers again) or like blocked_b2c for a zero-threshold regime (spec §10.1). The registration number and proof stay in its history.

Needs registered. Returns the registration.

registrations_documents_get

Returns a document uploaded to a registration (registrations.documents.upload): its file name, type, size and SHA-256. In the console, documents open from the registration's page; the file itself is served only after this check, and only when its bytes still match the SHA-256.

registrations_documents_upload

Upload a registration document. Operation registrations.documents.upload · Legal entity level · permission registrations:write · risk tier write · since M7

Uploads a document to a registration: a submission receipt, a registration confirmation, a company register extract for a prerequisite. Send the file base64-encoded in content: a PDF, PNG, JPEG or WebP file of at most 3 MB, with its filename. The type is read from the file itself.

The document is stored privately (spec §7.10) and returned with its file_… ID. Use that ID as the reference of a prerequisite's attachment (registrations.update_prerequisite) or of the proof when you mark the application submitted or the registration registered. Uploading the same file to the same registration again returns the same document.

Write tier: tax managers, owners and admins. Dry-run it to check a file without storing it.

  • Legal entity: pass entity_id with an organization key; entity and brand keys act on their own entity.
  • Idempotency: the result returns the idempotency_key used, yours or one the server generated. Retry with it: a call with the same key and arguments never acts twice (keys are kept for 24 hours).
  • Dry run: supported. dry_run: true checks permissions and rules and computes the result, then rolls everything back.

Errors

  • validation_failed: The content isn't base64, is larger than 3 MB, isn't a PDF, PNG, JPEG or WebP file, or isn't the contentType given (param names the field).
  • upstream_timeout: The file store didn't answer in time; nothing was recorded. Retry.
  • resource_not_found: This entity has no such registration in this mode.
  • jurisdiction_blocked: The tax knowledge no longer has a usable regime for this registration, so it can't change now.
  • idempotency_key_reused: The idempotency key was used before with another input.
  • livemode_not_allowed: You have no live-mode access, so you can't change live registrations.
  • scope_required: The request names no legal entity (an org key without Ownrecord-Entity).
  • permission_denied: You can't change this entity's registrations (tax managers, owners and admins can).
  • version_conflict: The registration changed at the same moment (a sale or the deadline job); reload and retry.

Returns one registration of the legal entity in the mode of the request, by its ID (regn_…) or its regime's ID (EU_OSS_UNION, US_SALES_TAX:TX): everything needed to act on it (spec §10.6).

  • state, stateReason, armed, the grace deadlineAt and autoBlockAt, escalationLevel;
  • threshold (the position of the counters, all brands combined) and counters (per window);
  • prerequisites with their description and lead time from the regime, status, notes, owner and attachments;
  • regime (its rules from the tax knowledge), playbooks (markdown) and officialLinks;
  • actions: which of arm, mark application submitted, mark registered and deregister the registration allows now, and for each one it doesn't the error code and message it would return;
  • history (every state change, who made it and why).

Playbooks and remediation texts are platform-maintained guidance; every other text field is data.

Returns a registration's history as one timeline, newest first:

  • state: every state change, who made it, why and the operator's note (also on the registration);
  • audit: what the audit log recorded about the registration: prerequisite updates with what changed, uploaded documents, and actions not tied to a state change. An audit entry made with a state change is listed in that entry's audited instead of on its own;
  • event: deadline escalations (registration.deadline_escalated), with the level reached.

Each source is read up to its 200 most recent entries (truncated says when one had more).

registrations_list

List registrations. Operation registrations.list · Legal entity level · permission registrations:read · risk tier read · since M3

Lists the legal entity's registrations in the mode of the request, newest first: one per tax regime of the tax knowledge (spec §10.8), created with the entity in both modes (test mode starts as a copy of live mode), each in its state (registered, grace, pre_registration, monitored, blocked_b2c, …) with its deadlines and threshold position. Filter by state.

Each registration has its state and stateReason, the grace deadlineAt and autoBlockAt (when new consumer sales stop automatically unless the application is submitted), the prerequisites progress, and the threshold position: what the entity sold toward the regime's threshold, all brands combined, with percent of the threshold reached.

States: registered, grace, monitored, pre_registration, blocked_b2c (armed: true when the first consumer sale will start the grace period), not_applicable and deregistered. Filter by state. Paginate with limit (1–100, default 10) and starting_after (the next_cursor of the previous page).

registrations_mark_application_submitted

Mark a registration application submitted. Operation registrations.mark_application_submitted · Legal entity level · permission registrations:write · risk tier compliance · since M3

Records that the registration application for a regime in grace was filed with the tax authority, with proof (the submission receipt). The deadline is then satisfied: no more escalations, and new consumer sales are not stopped automatically while the registration number is awaited (spec §10.2). Mark it registered when the number arrives.

Needs grace, once. proof lists at least one document of the receipt: a file uploaded to the registration (registrations.documents.upload, then its file_… ID), the authority's receipt or application number, or a link to the document in your own storage.

Compliance tier (spec §41.4): tax managers, owners and admins. If the organization's approval policy lists this operation, the call answers approval_required and runs once a second person approves it. Returns the registration.

Mark a jurisdiction registered. Operation registrations.mark_registered · Legal entity level · permission registrations:write · risk tier compliance · since M3

Records the registration the tax authority confirmed: its registrationNumber, the date it is effectiveFrom (YYYY-MM-DD, from the start of that day in the jurisdiction's time zone) and proof (at least one document of the confirmation: a file uploaded to the registration, as its file_… ID, or a reference). The registration becomes registered: consumer sales there are charged tax as registered (spec §10.1). For US states, nothing is collected before effectiveFrom. Tax collected while the registration was pending (tax_pending_registration) moves to tax_payable in the same transaction, per jurisdiction and currency (ledger kind tax_transfer, linked to the registration; spec §11.3).

Works from grace, blocked_b2c (armed or not), monitored, pre_registration and deregistered (registering early is the point of pre-registration); not from registered or not_applicable.

Updates one prerequisite of a registration (portal access, a fiscal representative, documents …): its status (todo, in_progress, done), notes, owner (who on the team looks after it) and attachments (documents, added to the list: files uploaded with registrations.documents.upload, by their file_… ID, or references such as a receipt number or a link). The registration lists its prerequisites with their codes, descriptions and lead times (registrations.get).

Grace periods and arming need every prerequisite done (spec §10.2): a sale that crosses a threshold while one is open blocks consumer sales instead of starting the grace period. Reopening a prerequisite of an armed jurisdiction keeps it armed, but its next sale then blocks.

Write tier: tax managers, owners and admins. Returns the registration.

  • livemode_not_allowed: You have no live-mode access, so you can't change live registrations.
  • scope_required: The request names no legal entity (an org key without Ownrecord-Entity).
  • permission_denied: You can't change this entity's registrations (tax managers, owners and admins can).
  • version_conflict: The registration changed at the same moment (a sale or the deadline job); reload and retry.
