# Ask for a deregistration > The tasks.create operation: POST /api/v1/tasks in the REST API and the tasks_create tool in the MCP server. Raises a `deregistration.submit` task for a registered regime: someone deregisters the entity with the authority, then submits the task (`tasks.submit`) with the confirmation and the authorization they acted under, and the registration becomes `deregistered`. Optionally with a due date and a note for whoever does it. Ownrecord raises the other task types itself. Needs a `registered` registration (`registration_transition_invalid`).
