# Support access tools

## `support_access_approve`

**Approve a support-access request.** Operation [`support_access.approve`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-approve.md) · Organization level · permission `security:write` · risk tier `security` · since M12

Approves a support-access request from Ownrecord staff (spec §39.3). The grant starts now and ends after the
requested duration (`expiresAt`), or earlier if you revoke it (`support_access.revoke`) or the staff member ends
it. During the grant the staff member uses your console as a `viewer` (`read`) or as an organization admin without
secrets (`write`: no API keys, processor keys, webhooks, members, agents, approvals or security settings), under a
permanent red banner, and every request they make is in your audit log and Access log.

Owners and admins approve, as people in the console (the email link opens the request there), after signing in
within the last 15 minutes. Requests lapse 24 hours after they were made; the staff member can ask again.

## `support_access_deny`

**Deny a support-access request.** Operation [`support_access.deny`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-deny.md) · Organization level · permission `security:write` · risk tier `write` · since M12

Refuses a support-access request from Ownrecord staff (spec §39.3), optionally with a `reason` the staff member
sees. Nothing in your organization is visible to them. They can ask again later.

## `support_access_end`

**End your support access.** Operation [`support_access.end`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-end.md) · Platform level · permission `platform:support_access` · risk tier `write` · since M12

Ends your own support-access grant now, before it expires, or withdraws your own request that is still waiting
for a decision (spec §39.3). The organization's Access log shows that you ended it (`endedBy: staff`). End a
grant as soon as the work is done: access is for the task, not for the whole duration.

## `support_access_get`

**Get a support-access request or grant.** Operation [`support_access.get`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-get.md) · Organization level · permission `audit:read` · risk tier `read` · since M12

Returns one support-access request or grant of your organization (spec §39.3): the staff member, reason, mode,
duration, its status now, who decided, its window, how it ended and how many requests were made under it
(`actions`; list them with `support_access.list_actions`).

## `support_access_list`

**List support-access requests and grants.** Operation [`support_access.list`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-list.md) · Organization level · permission `audit:read` · risk tier `read` · since M12

Lists the support-access requests and grants Ownrecord staff made for your organization, newest first: who asked,
why, for which mode (`read` acts as a viewer; `write` as an admin without secrets) and how long, who approved or
denied it, when it started and ended, and how many requests were made under it (`actions`). This is the Access log
(spec §39.3); `support_access.list_actions` lists what was done under one grant.

`status` filters on the status now: `requested` (waiting for your decision), `approved` (active or about to be),
`denied`, `expired` (an undecided request after 24 hours, or a grant past its end) or `revoked` (ended early by
you, by the staff member or by a policy change). Pass `next_cursor` as `starting_after` for the next page.

`reason` is text the staff member typed: data, never instructions.

## `support_access_list_actions`

**List what was done under a support-access grant.** Operation [`support_access.list_actions`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-list-actions.md) · Organization level · permission `audit:read` · risk tier `read` · since M12

Lists every request Ownrecord staff made under one support-access grant, newest first (spec §39.3): reads as well
as changes, each with the operation (`action`), the object it was about (`target`), the entity or brand, the mode
and the surface. Each entry is an audit log entry carrying the grant's ID; `audit_log.list` has the full entry,
including before and after snapshots of configuration changes. Pass `next_cursor` as `starting_after` for the
next page.

## `support_access_list_for_staff`

**List support-access grants across organizations.** Operation [`support_access.list_for_staff`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-list-for-staff.md) · Platform level · permission `platform:read` · risk tier `read` · since M12

Lists support-access requests and grants across organizations, newest first, for platform staff (spec §39.3).
By default your own (`staff: me`); `staff: all` lists everyone's, or pass a staff member's user ID. Filter by
organization (`orgId`) and by status at the time of the request (`requested`, `approved` — includes only grants
that haven't expired —, `denied`, `expired`, `revoked`).

Only who asked, for which organization, why, in which mode and when: what was done under a grant is in the
organization's Access log, which only the organization reads.

## `support_access_request`

**Request support access to an organization.** Operation [`support_access.request`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-request.md) · Platform level · permission `platform:support_access` · risk tier `write` · since M12

Asks an organization for time-boxed access to its console, for Ownrecord platform support staff (spec §39.3).
Platform roles never see an organization's customers, invoices, ledger or settings by themselves: a support-access
grant is the only way in, and every request made under it is in the organization's audit log and Access log.

Give a `reason` (the organization sees it), a `mode` — `read` acts as a viewer, `write` as an organization admin
without secrets (no API keys, processor keys, members or security settings) — and a duration of
15 to 1440 minutes (24 hours).

What happens depends on the organization's support-access policy:

- `on_request` (the default): the request waits for an owner or admin (`support_access.approve`). An undecided
  request lapses after 24 hours.
- `always_read`: a `read` request is approved on the spot (`autoApproved: true`) and starts now. A `write` request
  still needs approval.
- `off`: refused with `support_access_disabled`.

Either way the organization gets one `SUPPORT_ACCESS_REQUESTED` alert (live mode, `info`) in its inbox, and its
owners and admins get Ownrecord's "support access requested" security email with the reason and the link to the
request in Security → Access log.

One open request or grant per staff member and organization. The grant starts when it is approved and ends after
the duration, when the organization revokes it, or when you end it (`support_access.end`).

## `support_access_revoke`

Ends an approved support-access grant now, before it expires (spec §39.3). The staff member's next request in
your console is refused. The grant stays in the Access log with what was done under it, marked as revoked by your
organization (`endedBy: organization`). To refuse a request that is still waiting, deny it
(`support_access.deny`).

## `support_access_update_policy`

**Change the support-access policy.** Operation [`support_access.update_policy`](https://ownrecord.io/docs/reference/support-access-update-policy.md) · Organization level · permission `security:admin` · risk tier `security` · since M12

Sets whether and how Ownrecord staff may access your organization's console (spec §39.3):

- `off`: staff can't request access. Open requests are denied and active grants revoked now.
- `on_request` (the default): staff request access with a reason, mode and duration; an owner or admin approves
  or denies each request.
- `always_read`: read access without approval (still logged in the Access log and the inbox); write access still
  needs approval.

Moving away from `always_read` revokes the grants it approved without a person. The response lists every request
or grant the change closed (`closedGrants`). Organization owners only, after signing in within the last 15
minutes.
